SWEET POTATO PONE

Birvie Parris preparing Sweet Potato Pone

Recipe of Birvie Parris. Handed in by her daughter Vila Parris Tyree. Try it, I'm sure you will enjoy it!
  • 2 C Grated Sweet Potatoes
  • 1 C Sweet Milk
  • 1 C Sugar
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1/2 T Corn Meal
  • 1 T Flour
  • 1 Stick Margarine
  • Salt & Flavoring

Mix all ingredients together and cook at 275 until real brown.

This receipe is one that has come down through the years. Where my Mom got it, or maybe she just made it up, I don't know.

Most of the food comes from homegrown, for we were farmers. It has to be at least a hundred years old. All of the neighbors all have this recipe. Colleen Brown usually makes it when we have lunch at church.
This recipe and many others will be published and available at the Free State Sesquicentennial Homecoming Celebration • June 20 -22
